Answer:

Breathing is called an involuntary action because we don't command our body to breathe. It is carried out by our body automatically.

It is a form of respiratory control which is not under conscious, direct control. Involuntary respiration enables voluntary respiration when it is not possible, as seen when we are asleep.

Answer:

Breathing is an involuntary action, you don't forcefully and even most people don't control it consciously. Wikipedia defines involuntary action as: Involuntary means unintended. An involuntary action is one that is unintentional, i.e. without volition or will;

Unlike other activities we perform every moment, that based on our conscious involvement and indulgence like moving our hands, thinking is 90 percent is conscious based on our past memories we have gathered about a situation,place or person. But activities like beating if heart, breathing carry our themselves. Suppose you're asleep ,if you were not breathing,you might never wake up again. same is the case of beating of heart. When you're asleep,you're almost brain dead. Involuntary action is the set of muscle movement which do not require thinking. But it is controlled by brain for example beating of heart beat, breathing and many other activities going on like digestion, urination,etc.
