2-(-1)= 3  Therefore 3^2= 9
(-2-y)^2 = 4-y^2

∴$\sqrt{3^{2}+(-2-y)^2 }$ =  $\sqrt{9+4-y^2} = \sqrt{13-y^2} = 5$

Squaring both side,

Therefore, the value of y is -6 and 2.
