8. Boojho took some grains of boiled rice in test tube „A‟ and Paheli took boiled and chewed rice in test tube „B‟. Both of them poured 1 – 2 drops of iodine solution into the test tube and observed the colour change. What colour change would they have observed? Give reasons for your answer

If test-tube A is containing boiled rice and if some drops of Iodine is pour on it then, the colour changes to blue and black which indicates that still starch is present there.

If test-tube B is contains chewed rice and if we add drops of Iodine solution on it then no color change means it remains greyish. This is beacuse the starch in boiled rice is converted into sugar by saliva during chewing. Hence, in test-tube B there is virtually no starch left. As a result the color in test tube B remains unchanged.
