Answer:

Copper sulphate solution can be stirred with a silver spoon but not with a iron spoon. Silver lies below Copper in the reactivity series and hence is less reactive than copper. So when Silver spoon is used to stir the CuSO4 solution,no reaction takes place.

Answer: Copper sulphate solution can be stirred with silver spoon.

Explanation:

  • Element which is more reactive in the electrochemical series can displace less reactive element from its salt solution.
  • A silver spoon can be used to stir copper sulphate solution, while an iron spoon cannot. Silver is less reactive than copper because it follows copper in the reactivity series. Therefore, no reaction occurs when stirring the CuSO_{4} solution with a silver spoon.
  • But when CuSO_{4} solution is stirred with iron spoon, reaction between CuSO_{4} and Fe takes place as it is more reactive than Cu and it displaces Cu from its solution:

       CuSO_{4} (aq) + Fe (s)  →  Cu (s) + FeSO_{4} (aq)

So copper sulphate solution can be stirred with silver spoon.
