  • Hibernation is a deep sleep that helps them to save energy and survive the winter without eating much. During hibernation the animal's body temperature drops, and its heartbeat and its breathing slow down so that it does not use much energy.

  • Aestivation is summer sleep and during aestivation, animals usually tend to rest in a shady and cool place. They take sleep during the hot hours of daytime. Among many animals who perform aestivation are, frogs, earthworms, snails, crocodiles, lizards, tortoise and many more.

Answer:

Hibernation is a way for many creatures – from butterflies to bats – to survive cold, dark winters without having to forage for food or migrate

Animals in hot climates also undergo a form of hibernation called aestivation. This works in a similar way and enables them to survive extreme heat, drought or lack of food.
