The main organs that make up the digestive system (in order of their function) are the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum and anus. Helping them along the way are the pancreas, gall bladder and liver. Here's how these organs work together in your digestive system.

Answer:

Ans . digestive system have different parts that in digestion and absorption of nutrients from the food we consume.

Step-by-step explanation:

1) Ingestion-mouth containing salivary glands, tongue and teeth help in ingesting food and it starts digestion as saliva breaks down the starch in mouth itself.Oesophagus(food pipe)is like a pipe that take food down to stomach safely and inorder to keep other organ safe.It pushes down the food with help of the process of peristalsis(wave like movement).

2) Digestion-Stomach now takes control of digestion.Stomach is a muscular bag that contain of mucous and hydrochloric acid.Mucous protects the linning of the stomach because of the strong acid(corossive) it has.Hydrochloric acid with bile juice and pancreatic juice digests all the food and kills harmful bacteria.(bile juice is produced in liver and stored in gall bladder until used, pancreas produces pancreatic juice). The protein is converted into amino acids, carbs into starch and fats in glycerol after partial digestion in stomach.

3) Absorption and Assimilation-Food now goes to small intestine where full digestion takes place. Now inorder to absorb nutrients small finger like projections called villi absorb nutrients by increasing the surface area of small intestine that led to blood stream where used.

4)Egestion-the metabolic waste is then transported to large intestine where most of water from stool is absorbed and led to rectum where stored until passed out from anus
