Step-by-step explanation:

Each side of the flower bed = 3.8m( 3m 80 cm)

area of a square = s²= 3.8m²

= 14.44m²

if each side is increased by 50cm

We have, 3.8m + (50cm+50cm) ( note: for eg-: while increasing a line AB from each side you add to both A and B the new side after extending = 3.8m +1m (100cm= 1m)

= 4.8m

area of a square(enlarged bed) = s²= 4.8m²= 23.04m²

Therefore, area increased =23.04m²-14.44m²

= 8.6m²
