a)There is humidity i.e, water vapours present in the air. Glass containing ice cold water is cold, when vapours hit the glass or come in contact with it, it condense and become water droplets.  (Condensation is a process in which water vapours are converted to water droplets)

b)People sprinkle water on roof on a hot sunny day because the roof becomes hot and when water is sprinkled on the surface, it evporates cooling the roof. Evaporation cause cooling.
