8. Fig. 12.26 depicts a racing track whose left and right ends are semicircular.
Fig. 12.26
The distance between the two inner parallel line
segments is 60 m and they are each 106 m long. If
the track is 10 m wide, find :

Answer:

400.4 m

4320 m²

Step-by-step explanation:

Inner Dimension 60 * 106  m  rectangle

& 60 m diameter two Semicircle

outer Dimension 60 + 10 + 10 = 80 m

80 * 106 m rectangle

80 m Diameter two semicircles

the distance around the track along its inner edge

= 106 *2  + 2 * π * (60/2)

= 212 + 188.4

= 400.4 m

Area of Track  =  (106 * 80) - (106 * 60)   +  π (80/2)² - π(60/2)²

= 2120  + 700π

= 2120 + 2200

= 4320 m²
