Let the number be x that will divide 93 and 131 leaving remainder 3 and 5 respectively.

93 - 3 = 90 = 2 × 3 × 3 × 5

131 - 5 = 126 = 2 × 3 × 3 × 7

Taking H.C.F

x = 2 × 3 × 3 = 18

Hence, 18 will be the greatest number that will divide 93 and 131 leaving remainder 3 and 5.

Putting the value to check,

18) 93 ( 5

90

_________

3

_________

Again,

18) 131 ( 7

126

_________

5

_________

Hence, our value satisfy our requirements.
