Answer:

Uses of Graphite are :-

(a)It is a good conductor of heat and electricity.

(b)It is used as a lubricant in heavy machines.

Uses of Diamond are:-

(a)Diamonds are also used in the manufacture of fine wires, like those used in electric toaster.

(b)Diamond is used in heat sinks, which help conduct the heat away from sensitive parts of high performance microelectronics.

Difference between diamond and graphite are:-

*In diamond, strong three-dimensional networks are formed due to the presence of covalent bonds.

Graphites are formed due to the weak van der Waals force of attraction.

*Diamonds are hard in nature.

Graphites are soft in nature.

*Since molecules of diamonds are closely packed they have high density.

In graphites, Because of the large gap between the molecules, they have low density.

*As in diamonds, there is no free carbon atom, the diamond does not conduct electricity.

Because of the presence of free carbon atom in graphite they can conduct electricity.
