Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of deer be x

Let the number of deer be x half of the herd =x/2

Remaining =( x/1 - x/2)=x/2

2x- x/2 = x/2

3/4 × x/2 = 3x/8

9 are drinking water

x= x/2 + 3x/8 + 9

x/1 - x/2 - 3x/8 =9

8x - 4x - 3x/8 =9

8x - 7x /8 =9

x/8 =9

x = 72

Hence there are 72 deer in the heard
