8 Hema, Shefali, and Molly each drew two of these cards. Shefali said, "The sum of my numbers įs 1" Hema said, "The sum of my numbers is 1". Molly said, "The difference of my numbers is just less than one." Which card did each one have?​

We can solve this question just by trial and error method 

i.E. just try different combinations 

thus we get the answers

for shefali s card:

he had a sum of 3/2 

trying different sets we get   (1/4)+(5/4)=(6/4)=3/2

so he took card  (1/4)  and  (5/4)

for hema s card ;

she had a sum of 1 

 so by trail method we get (3/8)+(5/8)=(8/8)=1

thus she took the cards  (3/8)  &   (5/8)

for molly s cards :

she had a difference of just less than one 

thus by trail method we can see that 

(13/8)-(11/16)=(26/16)-(11/16)=15/16  which is just less than one 

so molly had the cards 13/8    &  11/16
