a) Secularism means that state(here state means nation) will not promote any religion. The primary difference between the American and Indian secularism is that in the American secularism, the state does not intervene in religious affairs, but in the Indian secularism, the state can intervene and it often does.
Both India and the US are a democracy. India and the US are both very large countries (US is roughly 3 times bigger than India. US is HUGE. India is big compared to most other countries) The geographical diversity in both countries is extreme as well.
