  • 30 kg apples
  • 20 kg bananas

Step-by-step explanation:

Let,

  • The weight of apples be 'x' kg and
  • The weight of bananas be 'y' kg

Given,

  • x + y = 50 kg ------- (1)
  • 1 apple = twice that of banana
  • ₹1800 worth apples
  • ₹600 worth bananas

Solving,

⟼ 2x : y = 1800 : 600

⟼ 600 (2x) = y (1800)

⟼ 1200x - 1800y = 0

⟼ 2x - 3y = 0 -------- (2)

Subtracting (1) & (2),

To make 'x' value same in both we have to multiply (1) by 2.

  • (x + y = 50) = (2x + 2y = 100)

2x + 2y = 100

2x - 3y = 0

__________

5y = -100

__________

y = 100 / 5

y = 20

Substituting 'y' in (1),

⟼ x + y = 50

⟼ x + 20 = 50

⟼ x = 50 - 20

⟼ x = 30

Hence, Iniya bought,

  • 30 kg apples
  • 20 kg bananas
