In Mimosoideae, fruit is a lomentum (Mimosa, Acacia). Lomentum develops like legumes. Fruits are constricted or divided in one seeded mericarp, after maturity these are separated with each other. Also present in Tamarind, Cassia fistula, Archis hypogea, Desmodium.

Answer:

(a) Tamarind

Explanation:

  • A loment (or lomentum) is a specific kind of dehiscent legume fruit that separates at constrictions between segments, with one seed present in each segment. It is a schizocarp variety.
  • Two genera that display this fruit form include tick trefoil (Desmodium) and sweet vetch (Hedysarum), which is mostly found in the tribe Hedysareae of the family Fabaceae.
  • Probably native to tropical Africa, the tamarind tree (Tamarindus indica) is a leguminous tree that produces edible fruit. Tamarindus is a monotypic genus, which means that just one species belongs to it. It is a member of the Fabaceae family.
  • A sweet, sour pulp that is found in the brown, pod-like fruits that the tamarind tree produces is utilised in foods all around the world. The pulp is also used as metal polish and in conventional medicine. Tamarind seed oil may be made from the tree's seeds and its wood can be utilised for carpentry.
