Let the present age of father be x years and son be y years.

x + y = 60

x = 60 - y   ----- (i)

Six years ago, father's age was 5 times the age of son.

(x - 6) = 5(y - 6)

x - 6 = 5y - 30

(60 - y) - 6 = 5y - 30

54 - y = 5y - 30

y = 14 years.

∴ Son's age after 6 years = 20 years.

Hope it helps!

~. 6x=60+12

~. x=72/6

~. x=12.

Now,

Son's age=x+6
