Let consider the number be x.

According to the question,

$\: \sf \: a + \frac{8}{100} of \: a = a \times x \\ \\ \: \: \sf \: a + \frac{8a}{100} = a \times x \\ \\ \: \: \sf \: \frac{100a + 8a}{100} = a \times x \\ \\ \: \: \sf \: \frac{108a}{100} = a \times x \\ \\ \: \: \sf \: \frac{108a}{100a} = x \\ \\ \: \: \sf \: x = 1.08$

Hence,the value of x is 1.08.
