Given:

  • Time taken by 8 pipes to fill a tank = 1hr 20min = 80mins

To Find:

  • Time taken by 6 pipes to fill a tank

Solution:

=> Time taken by 8 pipes  \longrightarrow 80mins

Work Done = 8 * 80 = 640 ---(1)

=> Time take by 6 pipes  \longrightarrow x mins

Work Done = 6 * x = 6x ----(2)

As, both the work done are equal (the tank is getting filled)

We equate these equations, (frm 1 & 2)

 \longrightarrow 640 = 6x

 \longrightarrow x = 640/6

 \longrightarrow x = 106.66mins ≈ 107mins = 1hr 47mins

Time taken by 6pipes will be 1 hr 47mins
