Step-by-step explanation:

Given Prove that (2+3√5) is an irrational number, given that √5 is an irrational number.

  • Given to prove that 2 + 3√5 is an irrational number given √5 is an irrational number.
  • Now let 2 + 3√5 = m
  •        So 3√5 = m – 2
  •        Or √5 = m – 2 / 3
  • Here we can see that left hand side is irrational and right hand side is rational which is a contradiction and therefore 2 + 3√5 cannot be rational.

So 2 + 3√5 is an irrational number.
