Solution :-

Let us assume that, in 80th match sachin scored x runs in order to gain batting average of 100 .

now,

→ Average in 80 innings = 99 .

so,

→ Total runs scored in 80 innings = 80 * 99 = 7920 runs.

given that, in last match he scored 0 runs .

so, we can say that,

→ Runs scored in 79 innings were = 7920 runs.

now,

→ runs scored in 80th inning = x runs.

then,

→ Total runs scored in 80 innings = (7920 + x) runs.

A/q,

→ New Average = 100

→ (7920 + x) / 80 = 100

→ 7920 + x = 80 * 100

→ 7920 + x = 8000

→ x = 8000 - 7920

→ x = 80 runs (Ans.)

Hence, in order to have a batting average of 100, sachin has to scored 80 runs in his 80th match .
