for the first,

Time= 40/60 = 4/6 hrs.

for the second,

Time= 60/40 = 6/4hrs.

Total distance =100km

Total Time Taken= 4/6 + 6/4 = 13/6 hrs.

so,

average speed = Distance/time.

= 100/ 13/6

=600/13 = 46.1538462
