Solution :-

As we know that, byes are given when the total number of participating teams are not equal to 2^n .

In Question , we have given that, there are total 19 teams . which is more than 2³ but less than 2⁴.

→ 2³ < 13 < 2⁴

→ 8 < 13 < 16 .

Therefore,

→ Total byes will be given = 2⁴ - 13 = 16 - 13 = 3 byes .(Ans.)

Verification :-

→ Total teams = 13

→ Total team plays against each other in first round = (13 - 1)/2 = 12/2 = 6 teams.

Out of these 6 teams , 3 teams will be winner and will select for Next round.

So,

→ The total Number of teams for the next round will be = 13 + 3 = 16 = 2⁴.
