8. The floor of a rectangular hall is 24 m long and 18 m wide. How many
carpets, each of length 2.5 m and breadth 80 cm, will be required to
cover the floor of the hall?

shalini1697: area of rectangle = l×b =24×18 = 432. area of carpet = l×b = 2.5 × 80/ 100 = 2 no. of rec. = 432÷ 2 = 216 m

\textbf{\underline{\underline{Answer :-}}}

The carpets Required are 216.

\textbf{\underline{\underline{Explanation :-}}}

Given :

Length of the hall = 24 m

Breadth of the hall = 18 m

Length of the carpets = 2.5 m

Breadth of the carpet = 80 cm

To Find :

Number of carpets required to cover the hall

Solution :

First, find the area of the Rectangular Hall -

  • Length = 24 m
  • Breadth = 18 m

\boxed{\sf{Area=Length \times Breadth}}

\sf{\implies} \: 24 \times 18

\sf{\implies} \: 432

Area of the Rectangular hall = 432 sq.m

\rule{300}{1.5}

Find the area of the carpets -

  • Length = 2.5 m
  • Breadth = 80 cm

Convert 80 cm into m

\sf{\implies} \: 80 \div 100\:.........[1m=100cm]

\sf{\implies} \: 0.8 m

Area -

\sf{\implies} \:2.5 \times 0.8

\sf{\implies} \:2

Area of each carpet = 2 sq.m

\rule{300}{1.5}

To get the number of carpets Required for the hall, divide area of Rectangle by area of the carpet.

\sf{\implies} \:432 \div 2

\sf{\implies} \:216

Carpets Required = 216

\therefore The carpets Required are 216.

Ans :-

 \fbox{216} Carpets

Given :-

➡Length Of Rectangular Hall = 24 m

➡Breadth Of Rectangular Hall = 18 m

➡Length of each carpet = 2.5 m

➡Breadth of each carpet = 80 cm = 0.80 m

To Find :-

➡Number Of Carpets Required To Cover The Floor Of The Hall

Solution :-

➡Area of the rectangular hall = 24 x 18 = 432 m²

➡Area of one carpet = 2.5 x 0.8 = 2 m²

➡Number of carpets required = Area of the hall ÷ Area of the carpet

➡Number of carpets required = 432 ÷ 2

➡Number of carpets required = 216

Therefore , \fbox{216} carpets will be required to cover the floor of the hall
