Step-by-step explanation:

8.let the breadth of the rectangle be x

then the length is x+20

perimeter = 2(l+b)

100 = 2( (x+20) + x )

RHS

= 2(x + 20 + x)

= 2(2x + 20)

= 4x+40

Now equating the ans

4x+40=100

4x=60

x= 60/4 = 15

therefore length is x+20=15+20=35cm

and breadth is x=15cm

verification

perimeter=2(l+b)

=2(35+15)

=2(50)

=100cm

9.let the width of the rectangle be x

then the length is 3x

perimeter=2(l+b)

84=2(l+b)

RHS

=2(3x+x)

= 2(4x)

= 8x

Now equating the answer

8x=84

x=84/8

= 10.5

therefore length= 3x = 3*10.5=31.5 cm

breadth=x=10.5 cm

verification

perimeter=2(l+b)

=2(31.5+10.5)

=2(42)

=84 cm
