8. The length of a side and the corresponding height
of a triangle are (x+3) cm and (2x - 5) cm respectively,
Given that the area of the triangle is 20 cm square , find
the value of x.
9. A piece of wire 44 cm long is cut into two parts.

Answer:

8) Area = 20 =(x+3)(2x-5)/2

40=2x2+6x-5x-15

2x2 + x-55=0

a=2,b=l, c =-55

- I+-vl+44o/4

-I+ -v441 / 4=-1+ -21 / 4

=-I+21/4 = 20/4=5

x=5cm. Ans

-------------------.........

9) Length of each wire =44/2=22

perimeter=22

side=22/4=5.5cm

5.5^2+5.5^2 = 60.5cm2

Perimeter=5.5x4=22cm each
