Given : The marked price of edible oil is 3000. A manufacturer in Hyderabad sells it to a wholesaler in Hyderabad at a discount of 25% on the Marked Price. The wholesaler sells it to a retailer in Mumbai at a discount of 15% on the Marked Price. The retailer sells it to a consumer in Mumbai at Marked Price
To find : (i) the amount of GST paid to the Central Government by
(a) the manufacturer (b) the retailer
(ii) the GST paid by the wholesaler to the Government.
(iii) the price paid by the consumer for the oil.
Solution:
Marked price = Rs 3000
A manufacturer in Hyderabad sells it to a wholesaler in Hyderabad at a discount of 25% on the Marked Price
Selling price = 3000 - (25/100)3000 = 2250 Rs
CGST = SGST = GST/2 = 2.5 %
CGST = SGST = (2.5/100)2250 = Rs 56.25
GST = 112.5
amount of GST paid to the Central Government by the manufacturer = Rs 56.25
amount of GST paid to the State Government by the manufacturer = Rs 56.25
The wholesaler sells it to a retailer in Mumbai at a discount of 15% on the Marked Price.
=> Selling price = 3000 -(15/100)3000 = 2550 rs
Interstate
IGST = GST = (5/100)2550 = Rs 127.5
GST paid by the wholesaler to the Government. = 127.5 - 112.5 = Rs 15
The retailer sells it to a consumer in Mumbai at Marked Price.
CGST = SGST = (2.5/100)3000 = Rs 75
Price paid by consumer = 3000 + 75 + 75 = Rs 3150
