8. The numerator of a rational number is 3 less than its denominator. If the
numerator is increased by 1 and the denominator is increased by 3, the number become1/2. find the rational number .

let the numerator be x and denominator be y

x= y-3

so y-3+1/y+3= 1/2

y-2/y+3= 1/2

2y-4=y+3

y=7

x=7-3=4

numerator =4

denominator=7
