Let the point be P(x,0) [we know that point on x-axis is (x,0)]

So, AP=PB and AP2=PB2  

⇒(x+1)^2+(0-0)2^=(x-5)^2+(0-0)^2

x^2+1+2x + 0=x^2+25-10x + 0

10x+2x = 25-1

12x=24

24/12=x

⇒x=2

Hence, point on x-axis which is equidistant from the points A(-1,0) and B(5,0) is (2,0)
