Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number be xy

x + y = 6

so the possible outcomes are 15, 24, 33, 42, 51

according to the question if 18 is subtracted then the number should be yx

so if 51 is the number;

51 - 18 = 33[so not]

if 42 is the number ;

42 - 18 = 24

so here the numbers have been interchanged.

So xy = 42

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

The sum of the digits of a two-digit number is 6.

If 18 is subtracted from the number, the digit of the number are interchanged.

To Find :-

The Number.

Solution :-

Let tens digit be x.

And the second be y.

Number = 10x + y

According to the question,

x + y = 6 ..... (i)

10x + y - 18 = 10y + x

9x - 9y = 18

x - y = 2 .......(ii)

On Solving eq (i) and eq (ii), we get

x = 4 and y = 2

Number 10x + y = 10 × 4 + 2 = 42

Hence, the original number is 42.
