Answer:

131, 171

Step-by-step explanation:

Let cost of ball be x and bat be y.

3x+2y=745---------1

y=x+40-------2

from 1&2,

3x+2(x+40)=745

3x+2x+80=745

5x=665

x=131

y=171

Given data :-

  • The total cost of 3 bats and 2 balls is 745.
  • A bat costs 40 more than a ball.

Solution:-

Let, cost of one bat be x & cost of one ball be y. so,

→ Cost of one bat, x = y + 40 ....[1]

Now, according to given we make an equation.

→ 3x + 2y = 745 .....[2]

{from eq. [1]}

→ 3(y + 40) + 2y = 745

→ 3y + 120 + 2y = 745

→ 5y + 120 = 745

→ 5y = 745 - 120

→ 5y = 625

→ y = 625/5

y = {unit} 125

Now put value of y in eq. [1]

→ Cost of one bat, x = y + 40

→ Cost of one bat, x = 125 + 40

Cost of one bat, x = {unit} 165

Hence,cost of one ball is {unit} 125 & cost of one bat is {unit} 165.
