8. Two cubes have their volumes in the ratio 1 : 27. The ratio of their surface areas is
(a) 1:3
(b) 1:9
(c) 1:27
(d) none of these
HINT. a^3/b^3 = (a/b)^3=(1/3)^3=
a/b = 1/3=a^3/b^3=1/9=6a^2/6b^2=1/9

Answer:1:9Step-by-step explanation:

let side of a 1st cube be A1 and second cube be A2

Volume of a cube is= side³

therefore, A1³:A2³=1:2

so,

A1:A2=1:3

therefore, A2=3A2

surface area of cube = 6a²

Ist cube surface area is 6A1²

Second cube surface area is 6A2²

ratio 6A1²:6A2² is

=6A1²:6*3²*A1²

=1:9

Answer is 1:9
