8. Two stones of masses m and 2 m are whirled in
horizontal circles, the heavier one in a radius r/2 and lighter one in radius r. The tangential speed of
lighter stone is n times that of the value of heavier stone when they experience same centripetal
forces. The value of n is

Answer:

Let the C.F. for the lighter body be CF1 and heavier body CF2,

CF1=mv²/r

CF2=2mv²/r/2

      =4mv²/r

Since tangential velocity of lighter stone is n times the heavier stone

                 mv²/r=4mv²/r

    Neglecting other values

                 v=4v

therefore, the value of n is 4
