displacement is the shortest distance travelled by the body between its initial and final position

displacement can be zero only when the initial and the final position of the body is the same

For eg:

(1)

A body moving in circular motion

(in this case the net displacement is zero as the initial and the final position of the body is the same)

NOTE:

this is only valid if the body completes circle

displacement is not zero if the body moves half a circle. that gives the displacement becomes equal to the diameter the circle

(2)

A car moves from point A to B and then returns to point A in this case also the Displacement is ZERO
