Reshmi chapati is an unleavened bread as thin as silk about 25cm diameter baked over an upturned dome like a vessel over live coal.

  • As the name suggests, this chapati is thin as silk and also very flaky in nature.
  • It received its name due to its thinness and is made on a "Tawa".
  • While appams, loochi and bhatura are not that thin and loochi and bhatura are deep fried in oil, made up of all purpose flour and not baked like the reshmi chapati and appam/ hopper is a pancake mainly made up of fermented rice batter.
