Concept :
Mark the two rays that are forming the given angle as AB and AC where the ray below is AB and the above ray is AC. Now, arrange the protractor such that the common point A of the two rays overlaps with the point on the protractor where its vertical and horizontal line meets and also the right part of the horizontal line should be aligned with the ray AB. Check the value of the angle on the protractor at which the ray AC is pointing to get the answer.
Solution :
: Here we have been provided with an angle given in the figure, we are asked to find the measure of the angle using the protractor. Let us first name the angle and see the process to measure an angle using the protractor.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
→ Now, we have marked the rays as AB and AC with A as the common point of the two rays. To measure the angle using the protractor we have to follow the following process.
(1) We have to arrange the protractor in such a way that the point A gets overlapped with the point on the protractor where the vertical and horizontal line meets.
(2) The right part of this horizontal line must be aligned with the ray AB which may be referred to as the baseline of the angle.
(3) Finally, we have to check the angle while moving leftwards starting from 0 degrees present on the right side of the protractor that the ray AC is pointing at. This value will be the measure of the given angle.
Hence, by following the above steps we get the measure of the angle equal to 121 degrees.
Tips :
We Note that we cannot draw the angle of 121 degrees using a compass because we can only draw the angles which are multiples of 7.5 degrees using a compass. For the rest of the angles we need to use the protractor. If you want to measure the reflex angle in the above figure then simply subtract 121 degrees from the complete angle, i.e. 360 degrees.
