As,  \sf{y} is a multiple of  \sf{x},

 \sf{y = kx}

Hence, taking the \sf{L.C.M.} of \sf{(x,\: y)} is same as taking that of \sf{(x,\: kx)}

 \sf{L.C.M.(x, \: y)  }

 \sf{L.C.M.(x, \: kx) =kx }

 \sf{L.C.M.(x, \: kx) = \dfrac{y}{x} \times  x  =  \boxed{ \sf{  y}}}
