8. What noticeable physical similarity did Mrs. Dorling and her daughter have?
Answers
Answer:
Mrs. Dorling was secretive, deceitful, greedy woman who had taken Mrs. S prized possessions in the guise of safe keeping during the war times. She refused to acknowledge the narrator during the first visit because she didn’t want to return the belongings.
On the other hand, her daughter is an innocent young teenager who had no idea or history behind the prized possessions and believed her mother’s tales. The narrator's encounter with the daughter in the absence of the mother reveals the young girl to be unaware of her mother's actions and her innocence leads the narrator to refrain from disclosing the truth or confronting Mrs Dorling with it.
Both mother and daughter have the same broad back but the similarity ends there as the daughter is much more welcoming while the mother shuts the door in the narrator's face and pretends not to know her.
