8. When a screw gauge of the least count 0.01 mm is used to measure the diameter of a wire, the linear scale reading is 2 mm and 28th division of circular line coincides with the reference line. What is the diameter of the wire? If the screw gauge has a zero error of -0.04mm, calculate the correct diameter of the wire.

Explanation:

Reading = Linear scale reading + (coinciding circular scale × least count)

=0.1+(27×0.001)

=0.127 cm

True diameter = observed diameter − zero error

=0.127−0.005

=0.122cm

Hope its help..
