so,

total number of boys + total number of girls = total number of students.

x+685=1875

x=1875-685

x=1190

so total number of boys are 1190.

b) total number of books a shopkeeper has = 5892

total number of books he sold= 4382

total number of books left be x.

so total number of books left + total number of books sold = total number of books.

x+4382=5892

x=5892-4382

x=1510

So total number of books left with him are 1510.

c) A to B = 485

   B to C = 678

   A to C = A to B + B to C

               =485+678

=1163
