Question:

8 workers can do a work in 40 days. In how many days will 20 workers do it?

→Solution:

Given:

             8 workers↔40days

             20 workers↔x days

⇔We have,Inverse Variation here.

ie,More the workers, less the days will be.

⇒So 8×40=20×x

⇒320=20x

⇒x=320÷20

⇒∴x=16days

If 8 workers can do a work in 40 days,20 workers will do it in 16 days.

⇔Extra Information:

⇒Direct variation: y varies directly with x (y=kx)

⇒Inverse variation: y varies inversely with y (k=xy)
