Subject: Appeal for Uttarakhand Flood Relief
Sir
In the past month, India has witnessed one of the worst forms of nature’s fury-floods in Uttarakhand which, washed away thousands of pilgrims, causing a colossal loss of life and property, rendering millions destitute and homeless. Through the columns of this newspaper, I would like to appeal to the people across the country to respond earnestly to this call for duty towards our less fortunate brethren who have been the victims of this disaster.
There is also a need to introspect and identify objectively whether this is a natural calamity or a man-made disaster. My appeal is that help in any form–food, medicines or money, should not only be forthcoming, but also well organised, so as to benefit the maximum number of people.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully
