I am glad to inform you that the Govt. of West Bengal has decided to observe the 200th Birth Anniversary of Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar throughout the year from 26.09.2019. Various programmes will be organised to commemorate this auspicious occasion. As a part of this programme “Vidyasagar Week” will be observed from 20.09.2019 to 26.09.2019 in all the Govt. Govt Sponsored/ Aided Schools and Colleges of our State. During this week, essay competition, cultural function, exhibition on photography on Vidyasagar and seminar will be organised. You may like to issue instructions to all the Private Schools of our State recognised by your board to observe the “Vidyasagar Week” in a befitting manner.

200TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF VIDYASAGARPankaj JhaStudent (class-X)XYZ School, 27th September, 2019Vidyasagar’s 200th birth century was observed on 26th September at 11 a.m in 2019 by Kantapahari Vivekananda Vidyapith. The school stage was richly decorated with flowers, small flags, festoons, and banners. All the teachers and students were present there. In our school grounds, the program was started with the arrival of the honorable chief guest Bimal Kumar Mardi, D.M of Jhargram District who garlanded the portrait of Vidyasagar. Then the students of class 9 sang the opening song and the programme started running its own rhythm. Our headmaster welcomed the honorable chief guest Savapati of Jhargram Zila Parishad, the Ex-Headmaster of the school, and announced that the whole programme would be telecast online for the students and guardians. Our chief guest presided over the programme and delivered a brief speech on the necessity of celebrating Vidyasagar’s Birthday in our school. After that, a little student of class 6 read out the short biography of Vidyasagar. Thereafter our Bengali teacher Sukumar sir delivered a relevant speech on the topic. The students of class 10 had highlighted an audio drama conveying the message of the glory of Vidyasagar in our society. A quiz competition on the life and activities of Vidyasagar was arranged. There were some groups among the students of class IX and X. The students presented various programme like dance, song, drama, recitation and etc.
