8. Write bitter experience of Ansaris on religion.
Answers
In a secular country, unequal treatment on the basis of religion is not acceptable by the constitution but many people still practise it and in the process hurt other people’s dignity. This is what happened with the Ansaris. The Ansaris felt that their dignity was hurt because they were being treated unequally on the basis of differences of religion as many people refused to lease their apartments just because they were Muslims.
NOTE -
a. Even though our Constitution has established principles of equality by means of rights and equal opportunities, these principles have not been wholly implemented in reality. A lot needs to done to make these rights and principles a reality. For example, even though law does not discriminate anybody on the basis of caste, people belonging to lower caste are still discriminated and are treated unequally.
b. Establishing equality in reality is a continuous struggles by the disadvantaged group who have suffered in the past and today are the victims of people's attitude which needs to be changed.
