Given : subtract 3 from 6 times a number, you get 9

To Find : Write the  statement in the form of an equation:

Solution:

subtract 3 from 6 times a number, you get 9

Let say number is N

6 times a number = 6N

subtract 3 from 6N you get 9

subtract 3 from 6N

6N - 3

6N - 3 you get 9

=> 6N - 3 = 9

subtract 3 from 6 times a number, you get 9

is  6N - 3 = 9

Solving for the number

 6N - 3 = 9

=> 6N = 9 + 3

=> 6N = 12

=> N = 12/6

=> N = 2

Hence  number is 2

Equation is 6N - 3 = 9
