Let age of Vishal=x

and, let age of his son Shekhar=y

As per question==>

Case 1<=>Before 8 years

Age of Vishal=x-8

Age of his son=y-8

x-8=4(y-8) (given, as A.T.Q)

x-8=4y-32

x-4y=-32+8

x-4y=-24.........(1)

Case 2<=>After 8 years

Age of Vishal=x+8

Age of his son=y+8

x+8=2(y+8) (given, as A.T.Q)

x+8=2y+16

x-2y=16-8

x-2y=8...........(2)

Solving (1) and (2) by elimination method

x-4y=-24

x-2y=8

-2y=-30

-2y=-30

2y=30

y=30/2

y=15

now, put y=15 in (1)

x-4y=-24

x-4(15)=-24

x-60=-24

x=-24+60

x=36

Therefore,

Age of Vishal=x=36 years
