80 girls and boys have planned for a movie. They are in a ratio of 6 girls to 2 boys. How many girls are there?

For  x ≠ 0:
6x = girls
2x = boys

Ratio  6x : 2x = 6 : 2 = 3 : 1
6x + 2x = 80
8x = 80
x = 10

Girls are 6x = 6 ×10 = 60.
Boys are the rest of 80:
80 - 60 = 20, if there was no transsexual ;)
