the bond order depends on bonding and antibonding orbitals of N

the BO. 1/2of bonding electrons - antibonding electronic

n2 has 10 bonding and 4 antibonding

for N2

1/2(10-4)=3

for N2+

1/2 (9-4)=2.5

hence N2bond order is greater than n2+
