If R₁ to R₈ are in series ,

Equivalent resistance = R = R₁ + R₂ + ....... R₈

R = 2 + 2 + 2 ..... + 2

R = 2 × 8

R = 16Ω

If R₁ to R₈ are in parallel ,

Equivalent resistance = 1/R = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂ + ..... 1/R₈

1/R = 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 + ........ 1/2

1/R = 8 × 1/2

1/R = 8/2 = 4

R = 1/4 Ω = 0.25Ω

Answer:

No. of connected resistors - 8

Resistance of each resistor - 2 Ω

Case I : When connected in series.

R eq. = R1 + R2 ..... R8

R eq. = No. of connected resistors X

Resistance of each resistor. (THIS FORMULA WORKS ONLY WHEN RESISTANCE OF EACH RESISTORS ARE SAME)

Req. = 2 X 8

Req. = 16Ω

Case II : When connected in parallel.

No. of connected resistors - 8

Resistance of each resistor - 2 Ω

R eq. = 1/Resistance of each resistor X No. of connected resistors (THIS FORMULA WORKS ONLY WHEN RESISTANCE OF EACH RESISTORS ARE SAME)

R eq. = 1/2 X 8

R eq. = 4

R eq. = 1/4 Ω

R eq. = 0.25Ω

Hope it helps you.
