Headers and Footers in MS Word

• Header is a section of a word document, found on the top margin. May contain document title, date & time etc.

• Footer is a section of the word document, found on the bottom margin. May contain page number, author's name etc.

• To add a header/footer, go to the 'Insert' tab--> choose 'header and footer' option on the ribbon-->based on requirement go to the header/footer drop down.

• From the drop down, select a blank option or an in-built template.

• At once, the 'design' option becomes available on the ribbon, choose the information that needs to be added. Press the 'esc' key to exit this mode or choose the 'close Header and Footer' option on the right side of the ribbon.

• In this the header/footer can be locked on the document. In order to edit, double-click anywhere on the header/footer section.
